10. Landscape
In its ongoing effort to model practices and behavior that demonstrate responsibility and leadership, and to maximize educational opportunities, Pearson College will:
10.1 Adopt approaches to land use planning, landscape design and construction, and grounds maintenance, which:
10.1.1 Reduce waste;
10.1.2 Reduce use of toxic pest management substances;
10.1.3 Reduce the energy intensity of grounds maintenance activities;
10.1.4 Reduce discharges of wastes to landfill, and;
10.1.5 Reuse materials and products necessary to landscape maintenance.
10.2 Work to integrate the concept of an “edible campus” in a manner consistent with and in support of, the food policy;
10.3 Comply with the General Procurement Practices Policy for the procurement of any products required for maintenance of buildings, facilities and grounds;
10.4 Restore degraded areas, protect natural areas, and promote healthy natural areas.
11. OCCUPANCY RATE
11.1 As a mean to maximize its infrastructures and minimize its ecological footprint, PC will continue to investigate alternative ways of conducting its year round operations and increasing its occupation rate.
